AP Capstone Program

The two-year AP Capstone program is open to students grades 10-12 at all high schools. The program includes two yearlong courses: AP Seminar and AP Research.

Why It's Different

Rather than teaching subject-specific content, the program courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing and presenting. Students who complete the two-year program can earn one of two different AP Capstone awards, which are valued by colleges across the United States and around the world.

The AP Capstone program prepares students to participate in additional AP courses and college-level coursework.

AP Capstone Diploma

Students can earn an AP Capstone Diploma by completing and scoring a 3 or higher in the AP Seminar and Research courses and taking and scoring a 3 or higher in four additional AP courses. The program is a great opportunity for students to either enter AP coursework or hone their skills to take multiple AP classes.
