Board of Trustees

Frisco ISD is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees that acts as the District’s policy-making body. Board members are volunteers elected at large by the citizens in FISD for three-year, staggered terms. They not only represent the public, but they also translate the needs of students into policies, goals and strategies that reflect the standards and values of the community as a whole.

While the Board of Trustees comprises individuals, it acts officially only as a group. In addition to general oversight and governance, Trustees are charged with calling trustee and other school elections, adopting and amending the annual operating budget, setting the tax rate, setting salary schedules, acting as a board of appeals for students and personnel matters, and employing the Superintendent of Schools.

The Board of Trustees annually adopts priorities aligned with the Future-Ready Framework to ensure Frisco ISD’s vision is being carried out in alignment with community input.

Trustees work with the Superintendent as a team of eight to set the District’s direction with the education and well-being of school children as their primary focus.

Instructional Support Team

The Superintendent is supported by an executive cabinet known in Frisco ISD as the Instructional Support Team. The IST and other organizational leaders oversee the District’s continued daily operations and provide support and guidance to campuses and central offices.

The IST regularly reviews the systems in place to support the Board’s priorities. The District reviews data, conducts an annual needs assessment and proposes changes to programs, practices or policies through continuous improvement efforts.
