Committees 

Committee Purpose 

All council members will be assigned to a standing subcommittee and may be given the opportunity to serve on special subcommittees as needed, with a possible additional time commitment. Members will provide insight and feedback on identified focus areas for each subcommittee. 

2024 District Advisory Council Subcommittees include: 

  • District Goals Committees: members will provide insight and feedback on the District’s goals for the year

  • Federal Programs Committee: members will provide timely and meaningful consultation regarding the District’s planning and decision making concerning activities related to specific Federal grant programs

  • District Bond Committee: members will be provided with regular updates on the implementation of District bond programs and provide feedback.

  • Special Education Parent Advisory Committee: Membership of this committee is limited to parents of students receiving 504 or special education services. Members will learn about local special education practice and services and provide input and feedback on District SPED initiatives and provide a parent perspective regarding current trends in special education

  • Career & Technology Education Committee: members will provide insight, recommendations and feedback to District staff on CTE curriculum

  • Gifted & Talented Advisory Committee: Membership of this committee is limited to parents of students enrolled in FISD GT courses and FISD teachers of GT courses. Members will serve in an advisory capacity and provide insight, recommendations and feedback to District staff on GT Curriculum.

  • Calendars Committee: members will develop a recommended school calendar for the following school year
