In an opportunity-rich school district, FISD students have the opportunity to self-examine their learning styles, unique strengths and weaknesses, and determine if and how they feel earning college credit during high school fits within their four-year graduation plans.
Dual credit and AP courses give high school students an introduction to the rigors of college-level learning. Both options allow students the opportunity to gain college credit while in high school, which facilitates graduating with less debt and finishing their degree faster.
Successfully completing a college-level course gives students confidence that they can be successful in college. However, many students have barriers, such as cost and the belief that they can do it. High school is the perfect place for students to try and build confidence that they will succeed in college.
Frisco ISD’s emphasis on access to college credits during high school supports the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s four strategic 2030 goals.
Advanced Placement: Students take college-level courses and participate in a cumulative exam to potentially earn college credit while still in high school.
Collin College Dual Credit: Students enroll in college classes and simultaneously earn high school and college credit.
UNT Now! Dual Credit: Students enroll in a project-based dual credit curriculum where all courses gain grades within a project.
