Argument Driven Inquiry

Current research suggests that typical laboratory experiences do little to help students learn how to participate in the practices of science and do little to help students understand the nature of scientific knowledge and how it develops over time.  Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) immerses students in the practices of science and gives them an opportunity to read, write, and talk as they learn about the disciplinary core ideas and crosscutting concepts of science. In addition, students learn about the nature and practices of science as they reflect on what they did during their laboratory investigations.  ADI can be an effective and flexible tool for increasing student achievement in both science and literacy.

ADI is being implemented in Frisco ISD Secondary Science classrooms to better promote scientific process skills and literacy, develop our students to better think like a scientist in our science classrooms, and grow our students into Future Ready Learners.
