Scanning on and off the bus has several advantages, including:
Accurate tracking of the number of students on the bus.
Accurate tracking of where the students scanned on and off the bus.
Ability to promptly provide information to parent inquiries.
Bus drivers will have greater accuracy in ensuring students load/unload at their proper bus/stops.
Starting in 2022-23, Frisco ISD began piloting standardized student ID badges at select campuses. Students at these pilot campuses scan their ID cards to get on and off the bus, adding a layer of safety and security.
February 2023
Bus-eligible students at Corbell and Riddle used their student ID cards to scan on and off the bus. Students at Corbell and Riddle scan on and off the bus to and from school, ensuring families, the campus and District know each child’s location during the scan.
August 2023
Corbell and Riddle Elementary students continue to use the student ID cards to scan on and off the bus. Select parents piloted a phone app to access a record of when their child scanned on and off the school bus.
2023-24 School Year
Frisco ISD installs scanning technology on all buses across the District.
Spring 2024
Clark, Cobb, Nelson, Wortham, Independence and Wakeland campuses begin scanning on and off of general education buses Feb. 14, 2024.
2024-25 School Year
All parents will have access to a phone app, My Ride K-12, to see their child's transportation information including the route number, stop time and stop location.
