Course Offerings

Original Credit

Original Credit Courses: Students can register to take certain high school courses that are designed for students seeking to accelerate their credit requirements for graduation. These courses are available to students who will be in grades 9-12 during the upcoming school year based the guidelines outlined for each course in the Academic Guide and Course Catalog. Starting with the FISD Class of 2024, all Summer School courses, including original credit, will be factored into a student's GPA. Students may take up to 2 courses plus virtual tests.

All courses must be approved by the student's campus counselor/administrator

Rising 9th-12th grade
Communication Applications - Speech ( .5 credit)
Health ( .5 credit)
Lifetime Fitness and Wellness (1 credit / A&B Semesters)
Business Information Management* (1 credit / A&B Semesters)
Rising 10th-12th grade
Medical Terminology* (1 credit / A&B Semesters)
Rising 11th-12th grade

*Note:  Students registering for either Business Information Management or Medical Terminology for advancement will be required to sign-up for both semesters

Credit Recovery

Credit Recovery Courses: These courses are designed for students who previously failed a semester or the entire year of a course and need to recover the credit. Students taking courses for credit recovery purposes will have access to a FISD teacher. For the FISD Class of 2023, Summer School credit recovery courses will be factored into a student's GPA.

**Any middle school student who fails both semesters of Algebra 1 will not be eligible for credit recovery through Summer School.  These students will need to sit in a classroom course again next school year.

Virtual Test Prep

Students may take certain test prep courses that are designed for students seeking to prepare for certain exams. These courses will be available via APEX through a free, self-enrollment process. Find more information about exam preparation opportunities.
